Mrs. Caroline Thompson died at her home, six miles southwest of Riverside, Saturday, September 2, at 7 o'clock in the evening. She had been dangerously sick a long time and the end was not expected. She was a sister of W. F. Orr, of this place and was born in Tennessee in 1840. Came with her parents to Iowa when three years of age. She was married to Wheeler Thompson, in this county, in 1870. Mr. Thompson died twelve years ago. She leaves of her family six sons and two daughters. Of these the eldest son, Grant, is married; the others are all single and all live in that immediate vicinity. The funeral was held at her late home, Monday, September 4, at 10 o'clock; interment followed in the Foster cemetery. Mrs. Thompson had been long a member of the Methodist church and was a good and faithful woman, who will long be missed.
