Margaretta Miller was born in Altershausen, Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany, November 9, 1813. A few years after her marriage to Paul Miller, she, with her husband and one child, emigrated to America. This was in 1846. She was the mother of eight children; three boys and five girls. Two of the boys died in infancy. The others grew to man and woman hood. Mother Miller was a firm and faithful adherent to the Christian faith from her earliest girlhood. For many years she was a communicant of the German Lutheran church. After this she joined the M. E. church and continued as faithful member of that denomination until her death. Mrs. Miller passed away, Monday afternoon, August 7, 1905, after an illness of only about a week, at the ripe are of 91 years, 9 months and 26 days. Her funeral was preached by her former pastor, Rev. W. S. Poole, Wednesday, August 9. She was buried in the Letts cemetery.
