Philip Sheridan died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sheridan, near this place, Saturday, March 18, 1905. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, June 23, 1865, hence he was a little less than forty years of age. He was twice married. His first wife was Margaret Marion, daughter of Francis Marion, now of Keokuk. She died at Ainsworth sixteen years ago and her funeral was conducted by Rev. J C. Kendrick, who had charge of the funeral of Mr. Sheridan Tuesday.

His second wife he married at Wichita, Kansas, two years later. She with two children, a daughter thirteen years old and a son, eleven, survived him and were present at the funeral. Besides these he leaves his aged parents, two brothers Ab and Win of this place and three sisters, Mrs. Beeson and Mrs. Shields of Burlington and Mrs. DeTray of Peoria, Illinois. All were present at the funeral except the last. Funeral was held from the residence of the parents Tuesday at 2 o'clock p. m. under the auspices of the I. O. O. F. lodge of this place, of which deceased was a member. Interment was at the Columbus City cemetery.
