William P. Hartman died Friday last at the home of his son, L. L. Hartman, of Davenport. He had been a resident of Columbus City until the past two years, since 1854. In 1862 he enlisted in Co. F., 25th Iowa infantry; but saw little active service on account of poor health. He raised a large family of boys and girls, all of whom are long ago grown up and have families of their own. These are the sons: L. L. , of Davenport, John of Muscatine, Henry and Winfield, at Letts and William in Colorado. The three daughters are Mmes. Caves and Dunkin, of Davenport and Stewart, of Colorado.

The remains were brought in from Davenport Sunday morning, interment following in the Columbus City cemetery. The pall bearers were old soldiers. Mr. Hartman's death was probably hastened by an injury he sustained a year of so ago from a fall from a sidewalk in Davenport. He was about eighty-one years of age.
