Carson Center, June 6 - On Friday morning, Mrs. Bergen received the sad message that her son Ed Bergen had died the day before at the Iowa city hospital, where he had gone only one week before. He was not considered dangerously sick by some; but some of his friends had warned him only a few days before that he must do something soon if he expected to get well. His poor mother had not word of his being worse and that an operation was to be performed. It was a great shock to the family, he being the only one of seven children unmarried and he lived with his mother. His remains were brought from the City on Friday evening and the funeral occurred from the home on Saturday at 11 o'clock, a. m., Rev. DeVore conducting the services. His friends followed the remains to the Litsey cemetery.
