One of the saddest tings it has been our duty to chronicle in a long time is the accident which occurred last Sunday morning between 9 and 10 o'clock at the home of John M. Morgan of Columbus City township which caused the death of his youngest son, Thomas R. Morgan. The young man was dressed and ready for church and went out to hitch up the horse to drive. It was out and he had trouble to get it into the barn yard, and so he got on another horse to drive it into the yard. The horse he was riding was going fast and when he turned the corner into a lane which led to the barnyard it stumbled and fell, turning a complete somersault and falling on the young man, injuring his head so that he died in about an hour without regaining consciousness.

His mother had gone out to assist him and saw the accident and ran to him and held him until assistance came. Neighbors were passing on the way to church and came to her relief and he was carried into the house and a physician summoned, but he had breathed his last before the physician arrived. He would have been twenty-two years of age in July; was the youngest of four brothers and the only one at home with his father and mother. He was born and brought up on the farm where he died. The brothers are Lewis, of Dawn, Mo., A. ? and John E. who live not far from the father. The funeral occurred on Tuesday afternoon a short service at the house and the regular services at Zion Congregational church, conducted by Rev. Lloyd Williams of Oskaloosa.
