Ray A. Smith was born July ? and died April 29, 1904. The greater part of his short life was spent in Columbus City. His father died when he was very small, leaving his mother with three small children, but she managed to keep them together and give them the advantages of the schools at Columbus City. About two years ago she married Mr. Titus and moved to Muscatine where they have since lived. Ray's death was caused by typhoid fever. He was a good boy and was beloved by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his early demise his mother and one brother, besides many other relatives. The remains were brought to Columbus Junction Saturday evening and taken to the home of his uncle, John Hoover, on South Hill Sunday at 11 o'clock the funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Columbus City and was laid to rest in the cemetery there.
