On Saturday morning from the Catholic church at Wapello occurred the funeral of Cornelius Murphy Sr., who died the Thursday before. Mr. Murphy had been a resident of Marshall township since 1865. Here he reared his family and amassed considerable property. Only a few weeks before his death he bought property in Wapello and moved there to take the balance of his life in peace, but his days of rest were cut short by the grim destroyer. He was twice married, he leaves besides his companion six sons by a former wife. These are Cornelius , Jr., John, Daniel, Patrick, Jerry and Dennis, all residents of Wapello. He was born in 1836 and had a life long reputation for industry and honesty.
