During the early summer of 1847 he left the territory of Wisconsin, came down the Mississippi river and landed at Burlington, Iowa, in June of that year. In that same month he settled in Marshall township, Louisa county, Iowa, where he resided until his death. He was married to Mary E, Marshall, daughter of John and Nancy Marshall, December 29, 1847. To them were born nine children, six of whom are now living and all are residents of Louisa county. They are Mrs. Reece Sellers, Mrs. Emily F. Darrow, Mrs. E. S. Briggs, Mrs. C. B. Allen, H. O. Weaver and Mrs. G. A. Salmon.

The funeral services were held in Cairo Bethel on Sunday, April 3, conducted by Rev. J. S. Miller of Mt. Pleasant, assisted by Rev. Wilson of Columbus City. The pall bearers were old neighbors and comrades. They were Henry Murrey, A. H. Havenhill, Thos. James. John Wasson, Joseph Allen and Homer Darrow. Interment was in the Fulton cemetery, near Cairo. Mr. Weaver was an estimable citizen, one of the pioneers of the county and one of the oldest persons in the vicinity.
