Wm. M. Johnson was born October 2, 1834, in Clarke county, Ohio, and died at Letts, Iowa, March ?, 1904, aged sixty-nine years, five months and nineteen days. He was married in 1863 to Louisa A. Toland and to them were born five children, four of whom survive him, one dying in infancy. The living are Mrs. J. H. Jacobs and Mrs. Horace Brown of Letts, Mrs. Harry Lee of Emerson, Mo., and Will of Letts. Besides his wife and children, he leaves sixteen grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters and a number of other relatives and many friends to mourn his life. He was a kind husband and father and will be greatly missed by all.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Childress at the U. B. church Wednesday afternoon, where a large audience assembled to pay the last tribute of respect. The pall bearers were N. G. Coder, J. M. Hildebrand, W. H. Snyder, Wm Leiberknecht, Ulric Garrett and L. U. Gipple of the school board. Interment was made in the Letts cemetery.
