Samuel Shaw Wilcox was born in Blout county Tennessee, July 22, 1824 and died at his home here February 26, 1904, being almost eighty years old. In 1848 he was married to Amanda Jame Shaw, coming to Iowa, Louisa county, in 1851, which continued his home till death. To them nine children were born, six of whom, with the wife survive him. The children are O.P., F. N., J. A. and S. S. Jr., the sons and Mrs. Jacob Foster and Miss Annetta, daughters. All of whom live in Columbus Junction except one son, James A, who's home has been on the Pacific coast some years. All were present at the funeral except for O. P., who was confined to his bed with sickness. Funeral from his home on Saturday, February 27, conducted by Rev. J. R. Vance.
