Anna Hurley Gauss died January 14, 1904 at her home in Shenandoah. She was the wife of Paul Gauss. Anna Hurley was a daughter of the late Senator J. S. Hurley. She was born and educated in Wapello. She had been postmaster in Wapello. Three children were born to her a daughter and two sons. The funeral took place from the home of her mother in Wapello, conducted by the pastor of the Methodist church.
