Mrs Ellen Collins, wife of John L. Collins, died at her home in this place Thursday of last week. Her maiden name was O'Connell. She was born in Franklin county, New York, in November 1831, consequently was not quite 71 years of age at the time of her death. She came with her parents to Illinois when 15 years of age, coming with them to Clifton a little later. In June, 1866, she was united in marriage to John L. Collins, who survives her. He and an adopted daughter, Margaret, are the only immediate members of the family. Mrs. Collins was a devout Catholic and died as she had lived, faithful to the tenets of that church. She was a kind hearted and charitable woman, and one who will be sadly missed by friends everywhere. The funeral took placed from her home on Second street; buried in Columbus City cemetery, Friday. Services were conducted by Father Jacobsmeier, of Washington, her spiritual adviser and friend.
