Maria Courtney Wilson was born in Ireland October 8, 1824 and departed this life at he home of her son, John C. Wilson, in Muscatine, Iowa, November 15, 1901, in the 78th year of her age. July 24, 1845 she was untied in marriage with John Wilson. Twenty-eight years ago they came to America and settled on a farm near Letts where they resided until 1891 when they moved to Muscatine making their home with their son, John C. Wilson. From early life until old age she was identified with the Methodist church. Those who knew her most intimately speak in highest terms of her Christian life. It is a remarkable fact that hers is the first death to occur in the families of her immediate relatives since her marriage fifty-six years ago.
