Letts, November 12- Mrs. C. Utter was born in Holmes county, Ohio, November 9, 1829, and died in Letts, Iowa, November 1901. Mrs. Utter was twice married. Her first husband was Alonzo Cole, and this union were born two sons and two daughters. Mr. Cole died October 12, 1834. She was married to C. Utter in October, 1861, and to them were born three sons and two daughters. The children, except one, were present at her death. During her long illness she bore her afflictions without a murmur and waited patiently until the end came. The funeral will be held Wednesday, November 13, from the Pleasant Grove Bethel church, conducted by Rev. Wilson. Interment in the Indian Creek cemetery.

Mrs. Celestius Utter died at her home in Letts, Monday morning, November 11, 1901. Mrs. Utter was a native of Ohio being born in Holmes county, that state in 1829. She was twice married: her first husband was Alonzo Cole who died prior to 1860 leaving his widow with four children, all of whom survive her, These are Charles, Lawrence, Mary, wife of Jacob Shellabarger, of this county and Eva, now Mrs. Robert George, of Nebraska. Two years after the death of her first husband she married Celestius Utter, who with four children, survive her. These are Hervey of Concord, Robert P. of Wapello, Mrs. M. A. Shellabarker of Letts and Mrs. O. S. Farmer, of Concord. Mrs. Utter had been for many years a member of the church of God, at Pleasant Grove Bethel, Concord township. Her funeral sermon was preached yesterday by Rev. Wilson of Columbus City. Mrs. Utter had been a long but patient sufferer with the disease that carried her away. She was buried in Indian Creek cemetery.
