? pained to announce the death of Mrs. James Turkington, at her home in Concord township, Sunday, August 11, 1901. She was in her usual health until Friday last when she complained of something like the earache. In the evening she retired as usual, ? about 1 o'clock the pain became so ? Dr. Thompson of Letts ? Failing to get the results ? Drs. Overholt of this place was summoned and also Fr. Mor- of Muscatine. All efforts proved ? Sunday afternoon she passed ? a lose of consciousness for ? The disease was pronounces paralysis of the brain induced ? by blood clot. -----

Caroline M. Griffin was born in Muscatine county, within five miles of the place of her death, November 12, 1855. During her entire life was ? immediate vicinity. On the ? November, 1874, she was married to James Turkington. To this union ? children were born. The ? a daughter, died in infancy. ? Samuel aged 24 and Clyde, ? two daughters, Belle and ? aged respectively 19 & 16, to mourn with their father an ? loss. ---- Besides her husband and children she, father, Henry Griffin, three brothers, Willis, Clement and Frank and sisters, Mrs. Belle Lintner and ? De Harppert, to mourn the loss of one most dear to them. ? Emily Griffin, and a sister Mrs. Louis Snyder, preceded her. The funeral occurred from the Methodist church in Letts where the immense throng present testified by their appearance their esteem for the deceased.
