Cockle Burr, May 17- Ellison Holland died at his home in Lodi, California, April 28, 1807. He was born in Fayette county, Ohio, March 13, 1836, and came with his parents to Louisa county in early childhood. He made a trip to California overland during the fold excitement and returned to Iowa in 1854. In 1856 he was united in marriage to Caroline Taylor who, with a large family of children, is left to mourn his death. His aged mother, Mrs. Myers, is still living in Morning Sun, and has been an invalid for many years. Two sisters also survive him. Mr. Holland was a soldier during the war of the rebellion, and was wounded in the arm, from the effects of which he never fully recovered. Another brother, William, died at home during the war from disease contracted in the army. Samuel died suddenly at his home north of Morning Sun about nine ago. T. D. died in January of this year, almost without warning, and now the remaining son and brother has been taken very suddenly. Thus home is made desolate by the loss of a dear husband and father. He leaves many relatives and friends here that unite in extending their sympathy to the bereaved ones.
