Susan Zigler was born in the state of Pennsylvania, September 7, 1823. With her parents she subsequently removed to Ohio where, June 7, 1853, she was married to Daniel Sigafoos. They made their home in Holmes county, that state, until 1861 when they moved to Iowa and settled on a farm in Columbus City township. Mr. Sigafoos died September 26, 1892, leaving besides his wife, five daughters all of whom survive their mother. These are Mrs. Kate Rush of Collins, Mrs. Ella Mizo of this place, Mrs. Millie Harper of Colfax and Misses Sadie and Franc who also have their home here. Mrs. Sigafoos had been a resident of Columbus Junction since shortly after the death of her husband. For many years she was a member of the M. E. church. On coming to Iowa she united with the U. P church, but when she came to the Presbyterian church. She was a faithful Christian, true in all the relations of life and much beloved by all who knew her. Her death, which occurred on March 17, was the result of lung fever. Her funeral occurred on the following day, conducted by Rev. Greer, her former pastor. The interment was at the Columbus city cemetery.
