We regret to announce the very sudden death, at his late home in Marshall township one of our very best citizens, T. D. Holland. The sad event occurred Saturday. Up to Thursday Mr. Holland seemed to be enjoying his usual good health. He was carried away by a complication of diseases, Peritonitis and Appendicitis. Although we have know him for nearly forty yeas, we have few authentic facts concerning his life's history. His age must have been 55 or more. He was a soldier in the great rebellion being a private solider in the 14th Iowa. He was with General Banks during the unfortunate Red River Expedition. He was married twice; in 1871, September 6, to Miss Mary Bosman, who died three years later, leaving two children, both sons, who survive both parents. Again in 1876 he married Miss Hattie B. Smith. She with six children now mourn the loss of husband and father. The burial occurred Sunday, at the Concord cemetery, near Morning Sun.
