Mrs. Rebecca A. Thomson passes away.

The death of Mrs. Thompson removes another pioneer of Louisa county from earth. She had been a resident of this vicinity for many years, and her demise casts a shadow over many homes. The following is from the Muscatine Journal:

Sunday morning at 4:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Hoopes, in South Muscatine, occured the death of Rebecca A. Thompson, relict of the late Phillip Thompson, at the age of seventy years, six months and fifteen days. Deceased had been ill for some time, but an accident the result of which was the breaking of her hip bone tended to shorten her earthly existence. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Methodist church. She connected herself with the church at the age of thirteen years and died in the triumph of a Christian's faith.

She leaves to mourn her loss, five daughters and four sons- Mrs. J. M Crum, of Chaplin, ILL.; Mrs. W. H, Hoopes, of Muscatine; Mrs. John L. Harvey, of Seward, Neb.; Mrs J. T. Webber, of Chicago; James and Thomas Thompson, of Letts; D. O. Thompson, of Chicago; and A. S. Thompson, of Columbus Junction. After a short service Monday morning the funeral cortege left the home of W. H. Hoopes at 11 o'clock a. m. for Letts, where the last sad rites were held at the Letts church, conducted by Rev. Pugh, and interment was made in the family lot in the Letts cemetery.
