Mrs. Cocklin, 53, Dies Suddenly at Grandview
Mrs. Fern Stephens Cocklin, 53, a lifelong resident of this vicinity, died suddenly at her home here Wednesday night following an illness of less than 24 hours with a lung ailment. Mrs. Cocklin was born April 3, 1885 in Louisa county, the daughter of David and Ruth McChesney Stephens. On Dec. 20, 1905, she married W. George Cocklin, who preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1938, a son Kenneth, also preceded her in death. She was an active member of the Grandview Community church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite McGill of Grandview; three sisters Mrs. Lydia Graville of Randolph, Wis., and Mrs. Jennie Utter and Mrs. Lillie McLaughlin, both of Wapello.
A sister, Mrs. Nellie Guthrie, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Grandview Community church with the Rev. C. B. Larson, pastor, in charge. Burial will be at the Grandview cemetery.
