Abraham Hill, the father and grandfather of three generations, passed over to the great majority at 9 o'clock p. m. on Wednesday, May 15, 1895. He was born May 4, 1804, at Lexington, Kentucky, and at the time of his death was 91 years and 11 days old. When he was about 10 years his father moved away from Lexington and settled in Madison, Indiana, where he built and operated a flouring mill for many years.

The subject of this sketch has been twice married in Indiana in 1838 to Miss Nancy Lane, by whom he had six children, only two of whom are living; our fellow townsman, James Hill and Mrs. Benjamin H. Eaton of Greeley. Mr. Hill moved to Iowa in 1849, the year General Harrison was elected president, and that state was his home for 41 years. His first wife died in 1846 and a year afterwards he was married again to Mrs. Cynthia Gregory, who was a young widow with one child. By this marriage ten children were born and his widow and all the children survive him and all reside in this state except one, who resides in Nebraska. Two of the youngest sons, A. L. Hill and H. C. Hill, are members of the dry goods firm, know as the Eaton Merchandise Co. Miss Lena Hill is the only child still remaining at the paternal home.

After Mr. Hill had reached the age of 65 he sold out his mill interests, since which he has not engaged in any business. He came to Colorado fourteen years ago and resided at Fort Collins until two years ago, when his friends removed him to Eaton to have him near them in his helpless old age. The funeral occurs today at 10 o'clock a. m. from the family residence and the remains will be laid to rest in the Eaton cemetery.. Herald, Eaton, Colo.
