The following obituary is heavy damaged. I will pick out what information I can.

Daniel McAvoy died at the home of his son, Robert F. on February 1 in Shelby county. He had been in poor health and had a paralytic stroke in May and one in July. He was one of Louisa Counties pioneers. He was Carlisle, Pennsylvania, February 13, 1818. He emigrated from Ireland. He settled in Belmount county, Ohio. At age 21 he went to Guernsey county, Ohio. He worked as a farm hand. He was associated with any church at the time of his death, but had been associated with the Methodist church in earlier years. The sons present were J. W., of Washington; G. W., of Muscatine; D. W., of Chicago; F. D., of Omaha; and Robert F., of Harlan, Iowa. Those unable to attend were: James A. and J. W. of Wyoming; T. J., of Indianapolis; E. E., of Kansas City, and Mrs. Mary E. Smith, of Dennison, Iowa. He was brought back to Louisa county and buried beside his wife in the cemetery near Cairo.
