A dispatch received from his wife announced the death of Carl Merrill, son of G. W. Merrill at Monterey, Mexico, on Thursday, November 8th. The same dispatch announced that she would start at once with the body for this place and asked that some of the friends here meet her at st. Louise. Consequently, W. A. Merrill left for the latter place in time to meet the remains, but a telegram received here later announced that there was difficulty in getting out of Mexico, saying that a letter would follow. Consequently the friends here know nothing of when or where the funeral will take place. Mr. Merrill was in business here only a few months ago, but on account of poor health, hoping that a more moderate and equable climate would prove beneficial. His wife and many friends have the profound sympathy of all.
