Mrs. Permelia Kark Havenhill was born near Johnstown, Pennsylvania, January 14, 1839, and died at her home near Cairo, Iowa, March 30, 1894, thus making her age 55 years, 2 months and 16 days. She was united in marriage May 21, 1857, to A. H. Havenhill and to them were born eleven children, eight of whom with the father, survive to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Havenhill united with the Methodist church at Holderman's Grove, Illinois, at the age of nine years and always lived with the hope of finally gaining a home in heaven. All of the surviving children were with their mother, except one daughter, Mrs. J. L. Martin of Lenox, Iowa, who came only a few weeks ago and on account of illness in her own family was obliged to return home only a week before her mother's death. The other surviving children are Mrs. W. H. Riggle and Mrs. ? Riggle of Marsh, Iowa, Samuel H., George W., William L., Carrie V. and Joseph B., all of Cairo. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. John LeCornu and attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends. She was laid away in the Fulton cemetery to await that day when the righteous shall shine as the sun.
