Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Gipple, who live near Grandview, mourn the accidental death of their son Everett, a young man about nineteen years of age. On Friday evening last he saddled his pony for the purpose of riding over to the village, less than a mile distant. No thought of harm to their boy ever entered their minds as they watched him canter way. They retire early without any uneasiness at his not having returned. They supposed he would do as he had always done before, return in good time and retire without awakening the members of the family. In the morning he failed to respond to his father's call and investigation showed that he had not occupied his bed. The father proceeded to the barn to find no trace of either the boy or pony. He then started down the road taken by the boy, followed by Mrs. Gipple. Only a short distance beyond where they had lost sight of him the evening before, they found both boy and poney dead. The poney, seemingly, had stumbled, falling on Everett with the horn of the saddle in such a way that the boy's skull was broken and his jaw dislocated. The pony also broke its own neck in the fall. The death, occurring as it did, was a chock to the whole community, and a shock tot he whole community, and a terrible blow tot he parents. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Schrader of Grandview, assisted by Rev. Potter of Letts, and was the largest funeral ever held in Grandview. Everett was a good boy and had many friends and hundrens of people attended the funeral to express their sympathy in this terrible affliction.
