Polly Ann Green was born in Queensbury, New York, April 7, 1891. She died at the home of her son, F. G. Coffin, Columbus Junction, Iowa, January 30, 1894. On November 4, 1897, she was married to John P. Coffin at Lock port, New York. They removed at once to Glens Falls, same state, where they began housekeeping and made their home. Here her husband died in 1854. Three children were born to them. Of these, Janet died in infancy; John P. died in Louisa county, Iowa, July 7, 1887. The only surviving member of the family is F. G. Coffin, a well known citizen of Columbus Junction, with them she has made her home since coming to Iowa in 1880. Mrs. Coffin was a woman of much intelligence, possessing a strong mind and remarkable memory. After her husband's death she devoted herself to her children and an usually strong affection and companionship existed between her the son with whom she lived and by who she will long be greatly missed, as also by her little grandson, Frankie Coffin, who was always devoted to his grandma, in whose room he spent much of his time, reading to her, talking to her and being instructed by her. She had been in delicate health for many years and for nearly six years she had not left her room; but she was always remarkably patient in all her sufferings. One who had been much with her remarked that her patience was indeed wonderful; that any one might learn a lesson of patience from her. She leaves five grandchild and a number of great- grandchildren. The funeral occurred from the home of her son, on Wednesday at 2 p. m. January 31, 1894, conducted by Rev. D. H. Fouse of the reformed church. She was buried at Columbus City.
