Columbus Gazette, Columbus Junction, Iowa Thursday, August 17, 1893 page 1

Death came very suddenly to our community and took from our midst Mrs. Jane G. Crow. Only that day she with her daughter, Mrs. Flora Bedwell, of Ringold county, Iowa, visited at Mrs. Mary Huffman's and in the evening at Mrs. Tillie House's. Little did they think when their mother left them that evening at ten o'clock that ere the dawn they would be called to her death bed. But although the death summons came suddenly, it found her "house set in order," for she had said " I hold myself in readiness to go when called." Mrs. Crow was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvania, December 6, 1823 and died at her home near Letts, Iowa, August 10, 1893, aged 69 years, 8 months and 8 days. She came to Iowa with her parents, Benjamin and Margaret Gibboney, in the spring of 1849. She was married to J. H. Crow, December 2, 1847. In early life she with her sisters united with the Presbyterian church at Kirksville, Licking county, Ohio. All through her life she ever evinced to all with whom she associated the character of a true Christian. She loved true piety and Godliness. She will be greatly missed in the home circle where she has always lived a quiet, retired life. She always had a kind word, a pleasant smile and a warm welcome for her friends, of whom she had many. Her husband preceded her to the spirit world ten years, his death having occurred June 1, 1883. She was the mother of ten children, three of whom died in infancy, leaving three sons and four daughters to mourn their loss. Funeral was held at her late home, August 12. Rev. Cunningham conducting the services. She was interred in the Grandview cemetery.
