Mrs. Grandmother Teeple died at her home near Cairo, Iowa, Sunday evening, June 11, 1893, at nine o'clock. She was born in Erie County, Pennsylvania, in September, 1804 and was nearly eighty-nine years of age at the time of her death. She had gradually be failing for several weeks and death was the result of a general breaking down of the system. Mrs. Teeple was married at the age of twenty-four and removed to Cincinnati, Ohio, and from thence to Adams county, Indiana, coming to Iowa in 1861. She was the mother of nine children, one of whom died in infancy and one, a daughter, Mrs. Carpenter, left a little boy who was brought up by his grandmother. He died in 1881. He was for a time in the restaurant business in Columbus Junction. The other seven children, all daughters, survive their mother. They are, Mrs. Anna Coon and Mrs. Sarah Coon, Weeping Water, Nebraska; Mrs. Catherine Hardin, near Morning Sun, Iowa; Mrs. Harriet Stoops, Audubon, Iowa; Mrs. G. W. Brown, Columbus Junction, Iowa; Mrs. Hiley Mullin, Cairo, Iowa, and Miss Emmeline Teeple, who resided with her mother. Mrs. Teeple had been for many years a member of the Methodist church, and was always and earnest Christian. Her husband preceded her to the spirit world nearly eleven years, having died in October, 1882. The funeral occurred from the residence on Tues at nine o'clock, Rev. John LeCornu officiating. The family will have the sympathy of their friends in this bereavement.
