Columbus Gazette, Columbus Junction, Iowa Thursday, May 11, 1893 page 1

Mrs. Cora Bell Westlake Briggs died at the home of her father, B. Westlake, in Concord township. Louisa county, Iowa, May 8, 1893, aged thirty-five years, nine months and eleven days. She was born in Rockingham, Scott county, Iowa, September 29, 1859, and removed with her father's family near Fredonia when but five years old. On September 29, 1880, she was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Briggs, of this county. In 1882 they move to Creston, Iowa, where they have sine resided, until two months ago when she was prostrated with liver trouble. Although everything was done that loving hands could do, it was of no avail. Death had marked her for his victim and she passed away praising God with her latest breath. She leaves a loving husband, father, brother and sisters and a host of dear friends who mourn her loss, but not as those that have no hope. The remains were interred in the Indian Creek cemetery, Wednesday, May 9, beside her mother who preceded her to the spirit land some twenty years. There her mortal part will return to its mother dust and remain.
