The funeral occurs from the Presbyterian church, at two o'clock this afternoon. Mr. Studdard had long been in poor health but was much better of late and no one thought of his being so suddenly taken off. he was brusque in his manner, but tender hearted as a child, industrious, sober and honest he was possessed of a wonderful fund of dry humor and had a pleasant word for everybody. He will long be missed by those who knew him well.

Second story page 5 - Our town was shocked Tuesday afternoon at the very sudden and unexpected death of Thomas C. Studdard. He was returning toward home about 5 o'clock p. m. from some errand down town and when in front of Hanft's meat market he suddenly reeled and fell to the walk. Some parties standing near rushed to his help, but he was past that and in a very few minutes was dead. The event occurred within a few feet of the spot where another old settler, Jacob Bobo, met a similar fate.
