Columbus Gazette, Columbus Junction, Iowa Friday, April 29, 1892 page 5

The sad and startling announcement reached us Saturday morning of the unexpected death of Mrs. Margaret Barker, of Concord township. This occurred on Friday, just eight weeks subsequent to the death of her husband John Barker; on Sunday at the Methodist church, Fredonia, occurred her funeral, in the dame home and just eight weeks from the day and hour when her husband's took place. We have not been able to learn her exact ailment bu her neighbors immediately attribute it to her worry over the settlement of the Barker estate. The funeral discourse was prescribed by Rev. Potter, who occupied by Rev. Chew's place at his appointments here that day. His text was 2 Corinthians,?

Mrs. Barker was born in Germany on Jun 21, 1820 came to this country in 1852 on the same vesel with her late husband to whom she was ? at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and after their arrival. With him ? are first settled in Stuvbenville, Ohio and came to town almost thirty years ago. Soon after coming to this state they ? on the place on which both lived until death. Both united with the Methodist church at Fredonia twenty-eight years ago, and both remained ? members. An immense ? people attended her funeral Sunday, many if whom could not get in the church for lack of room. A good woman has gone and one who will be sadly missed. Of all the children born to them, only one, a daughter, Mrs. Reynolds, survives.
