OBITUARY.

Simon Augustus McDaniel was born in Virginia, August 7, 1816, and afterwards moved with his parents to Champaign county, Ohio, where he grew to manhood and in 1843 was united in marriage to Catherine Kiser. Six children were the result of this union, five sons and one daughter. In 1844 they moved to Illinois and the following year to Louisa county, Iowa. On October 18, 1869, the wife and mother departed this life and on October 25th, 1871 Father McDaniel united in marriage with Mrs. Caroline Butler with who he lived until his death, December 3, 1891. His children all survive him and were present when he was laid to rest. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Grove Bethel, Sunday, At 11 a. m., conducted by Rev. A. C. Chew. An immense number testified by their presence the high esteem in which he was held by those who knew him. The remains were buried in Indian Creek cemetery.
