After his discharge from that regiment on account of disability in 1863, he enlisted in Burgess' battery, in which he served till the close of the war, coming out 1st sergeant. He moved to Kansas City after his return from the war, where he was revenue collector for some time, after which he engaged in the wholesale business. From there, ten years since, he went to Colorado, where he had since been in charge of a wrecking train for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe road. His death occasioned by a severe cold resulting in pneumonia, growing out of his exposure in winter work. The remains were brought to this place in charge of his father, who hastened to him as soon as he learned of his serious illness; to late, however, to see his on alive. Services were conducted by Rev. Kelsy from the residence of his father. Though none of his relatives were with him at the hour of his death, it is a source of great consolation to them to know that he died among kind and true friends. He was buried by the G. A. R.
