Columbus Gazette, Columbus Junction, Iowa, Wednesday, December 11, 1889 page 1

DIED - Ralph, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Tucker, Thursday morning December 5th, 1889. His disease, the terrible scourge, diphtheria. His age was seven, and yet in those short seven years, little Ralph had suffered more from sickness than ordinarily falls to the lot of mortal. Though of more than ordinary bodily vigor, twice before his fatal illness, his life had hung for weeks at a time, on a single thread. a year since, there were days multiplied into weeks when it seemed he could not last an hour longer. His loss is a heavy blow to his parents. He was a bright little fellow and his death seems a very hard thing to bear. but the ways of Providence are mysterious. to ad to sore affliction, Mrs. Tucker is and has been for ten days, confined to her bed with the same disease. the remains were deposited, Friday forenoon, in the cemetery at Columbus City.
