OBITUARY.

Miss Kate Ellen Richards died at the residence of her father, John Richards, in the Welsh neighborhood, Columbus City township, September 24, 1889. she was born January 4, 1870. She was taken sick several years ago and has borne her illness all that time with Christian resignation. She retained her senses to the last and when on the verge of eternity she was calm and happy with no fears of the river of death. a little before she died she repeated "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.' Just before she died she called her parents, and brothers and sisters who were present, to her bedside and told them, one by one, that she was going to glory and asked them all to promise to meet her in the heavenly land. After this she raised her hand to bid them all good bye and in forty minutes she had passed away from earth, across the tnrbid waters, to where youth and hope never fade. In her disposition she was kind and affectionate. She was blessed with a large circle of friends. She was a member of the Bethel Calvinistic Methodist church and was always a greatly interested worker in the church. She was passionately fond of music and took an active part in it as long as her health would permit. Her funeral took place on Thursday, September 26, at one o'clock p. m. and it was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends who came to pay a last tribute of respect to her mortal remains. In the absence of her pastor, Rev. R. Hughes, the funeral service was conducted by the Rev. T. W. Evans and Rev. J. M. Hughes. her life was short and stormy, but her sufferings are all over. "She shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away." He sun had a peaceful setting. She died in the bloom of youth.
