OBITUARY.

Our community was shocked at the unexpected and sudden death of Jonus Deihl, one of oldest and most respected citizens which occurred at his home in this city, Wednesday, August 22nd. He had been sick only two days, although his health has been far from robust for several years past. Jonas Deihl was born in Lehigh county, Pennsylvania, November 19, 1817; consequently was nearly 71 years old at the time of his death. In 1841 he was married to Ann Caroline Stapp who survives him, Three children were the result of this union two of whom are dead the other, Horace lives near Clifton on the farm on which Mr. Deihl settled when he came to Iowa in 1855. Mr. Deihl suited with the German Reformed church, while a boy and continued a consistent member of that church to his death. For the last six or eight years, he has been a resident of the Junction. He been for many years, a member of the I. O. of O. F. and prominent in their councils. His funeral, which took place from the Presbyterian church, was very largely attended, being one of the largest ever seen in the Junction. Services were conducted by Rev. Faust, of New Lisbon, Iowa.
