OBITUARY.

Mary Stapp Klotz was born in Lehigh county, Pen, in 1825 and died in Columbus Junction, Iowa Sunday, September 9, 1888. She married Wm. Klotz in 1844 and moved with him to Iowa in 1855. They first settled on a farm in this township, but a few years later began the hotel business in Old Clifton, in which they have been engaged almost continuously ever since; part of the time at Wilton and Clarence but for the past several years in the Junction. She was the mother of five children, two of whom died in infancy, one daughter, the wife of H. D. Rifenberg in 1878 while the other two, M. W. and Jno. M. are residents of this place. She united with the German Reformed church at the age of 16 and was a consistent member of that organization at the time of her death. Her husband, the widely known hotel man, survives her. Her disease was pronounced cancer of the stomach. the funeral occurred Tuesday morning from the Evangelical church. The remains were interred in the beautiful cemetery at Col. City by the side of her daughter. She was a sister of Mrs. Jonas Deihl and Reuben Stapp. The sorrowing friends have the sympathy of the entire community in their affliction.
