Prominent Oakville Man Dead

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Oakville Methodist church for Harold L. Swan, 52, prominent Louisa county farmer and a man well known throughout this community. He died at his home near Oakville late Thursday following an extended illness. Funeral services were in charge of Rev. Mark E. Weston and burial was in Wapello cemetery.

Harold Swan was the son of Frank W. and Hulda Bjork Swan. He was born on July 5, 1898 and was a lifelong resident of the Oakvillle community.

He is survived by the widow, Frances Jamison Swan, a daughter, Mrs. William Donald, Allerton, and Frank W. Swan a student at Iowa State College. There is one grandchild.

A son, Roger, died in childhood and another son, Ensign Roy Swan was killed while serving in the navy in World War II. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Arnold Swan and Oscar Swan, both of Tipton; Mrs. Robert Murray and Mrs. Owen Kelly, both of Oakville; Mrs. Robert Lewis, Wapello; Mrs. Louis Pulver, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Mack W. Dietrick, Burlington.
