Ralph Reid Hunt, 82, died at his home Aug. 29 after a lingering illness.

Mr. Hunt was a former state representative from Louisa county, school teacher and superintendent, and Louisa county farmer.

Mr. Hunt lived in Tipton for approximately 6 years, moving to Wapello in 1959.

Born Jan. 16, 1879, in Louisa county, he was the son of Henry and Laura Hornsby Hunt.

He was married Nov. 22, 1924, at Oakville to Sophie Kramer. He was a member of the Methodist church at Wapello and the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Hunt served 3 terms in the Iowa legislature a number of years ago. He taught schools in rural Louisa county, was a teacher and principal at Columbus City, and served six years as Louisa County Superintendent of Schools.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Thomas, Menlo Park, Calif.; a brother, Ed Hunt of Wapello; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death in 1956 by a son, Reid L. Hunt, who was an attorney at Tipton. He was also preceded in death by a brother and 4 sisters.

Funeral services were held Sept. 1 at the Methodist church at Wapeloo, with the Rev. Harlan Gant in charge.
