Sketch of the Late C. N. Aronhalt, Winfield.

Last week's Winfield Beacon notes the death of C. N. Aronhalt, whom our older readers will remember. Mr. and Mrs. Aronhalt were residents of this place for some months several years ago. The Beacon has the following sketch of the deceased:

"Funeral services for C. Newton Aronhalt were held at two-o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. John C. Porath officiating. Burial was in the Winfield Scott Township cemetery. Merle Gibbs, Lyle Gibbs, Roger Aronhalt, Leslie Ross, Glenn Ross and Virgil Ross, all grandsons of the deceased, were pallbearers. Cornelius Newton Aronhalt was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, on December 1, 1852, the son of Cornelius and Nancy Willis Aronhalt. At the age of one year he moved with his parents to a farm east of Winfield where he grew to manhood. When he was a young man, the family moved to Kansas. There, on September 11, 1878, he was united in marriage to Arsema Salone Weaver. To this union six children were born. One son died in infancy, and a daughter, Minnie Pearl, wife of Herman Ross, passed away in 1925. In 1936 his wife passed away after they had been married for more than 50 years. Surviving are four children: Mrs. Jessie Gibbs who cared for her father during his long illness; Mrs. Chester Ross, and Ralph Aronhalt, all of Winfield, and Mrs. Elmer Orr of Lenox, 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mr. Aronhalt united with the Congregational church as a young man."
