Funeral Services for J. A. Whitham

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the Methodist church for James A. Whitham who died at his home here early Friday evening, April 7. In declining health for several months, Mr. Whitham had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks.

Prior to his retirement in 1941 Mr. Whitham had been for 22 years manager of the Morning Sun Lumber Company. At other times he had worked as a butcher and for a time he was engaged in the feed and produce business in Morning Sun.
Mr. Whitham was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Whitham and was born in Fairfield, Iowa on April 1, 1863. When he was five years old the family moved to Burlington and in 1866 he came to Morning Sun where he spent the remainder of his life.

Mr. Whitham was married twice. His first wife, Jennie Delzell, died in 1903. On August 30, 1906 he married Tressa Frazier, who survives. Other survivors are a son, Forrest Whitham, Morning Sun, a daughter, Mrs. E. S. Sayre, Delta, Colorado, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Jessie Curran, Denver, Colorado. One son, Ferrel Whitham, died in 1941.
Funeral services were in charge of Rev. J. Milton Kinney with the following acting as pallbearers: Leonard Anderson, John Minnis, S. B. McKelvey, C. A. Brown, P. A. Moyers, and R. H. Nott. Burieal was in Elmwood cemetery.
