Bascom Chamberlin was born in Dunkirk, Chautauqua county, N. Y., Dec. 20, 1837, and departed this life Sunday, Oct. 7, 1906, at his home near Grandview, Iowa, after a lingering illness of several months. He came to Iowa City, Iowa, in 1855, and in 1861 he was united marriage to Miss Sarah Anna McCleary, they then settled on the farm where he died. Besides his sorrowing wife, he leaves one brother and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. The funeral occurred Tuesday p. m. at 2 o'clock from the M. E. church with Rev. Longnecker conducting the services. Interment in the Grandview cemetery.
