From the Morning Sun News-Herald, May 7, 1931, page 5: Burlington Gazette - Mrs. John Cordell, native of Morning Sun and resident of Burlington for 20 years died in St. Francis Hospital Tuesday night after a short illness. Blanche Finley was born in Morning Sun, Iowa, April 20, 1882, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Finley, coming to Burlington in 1911. She was married 10 years ago in Hannibal, Mo., to John Cordell, who survives. In addition she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Hamilton of Morning Sun, Mrs. Frank Peters of Cedar Falls, and Mrs. Sam Linn of Burlington. She attended Grace Methodist church. Funeral services will be held in Unterkirchner's funeral home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev Fred Skewes with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery.
