Pearl I. Green

Pearl Ione Green, 85, of Riverside (Iowa), died Monday, January 5, 2004, at the Parkview Care Center in Wellman (Iowa) following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 8, at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home in Lone Tree (Iowa). Burial will be in the Ainsworth (Iowa) Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick LoPresto, Darin Mapel, Kirk Soukup, and Brad Soukup.

Visitation will be Thursday, at 1 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.

Pearl Ione Cauthorn was born July 5, 1918, in Doddridge, Arkansas, the daughter of Marion and Bell Thomas Cauthorn. On November 27, 1943, she was united in marriage to Willard M. Mapel in Texarkana, Arkansas. Following Willard’s death on March 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Chester Green on April 4, 1964, in Iowa City (Iowa).
She worked at Ainsworth (Iowa) Four Corners, then at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City (Iowa) as a dietician.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside (Iowa) and the Royal Neighbors of America in Columbus Junction (Iowa).
She will be deeply missed by her son, Jerry W. Mapel and his wife, Sharon of
Columbus Junction (Iowa), one daughter, Brenda Hazelton and her husband, Al, of Des Plaines, Illinois; two grandchildren, Darin Mapel and his wife, Tammy of Columbus Junction (Iowa) and Megal LoPresto and her husband, Rick, of Rolling Meadows (Iowa); two step-grandchildren, Kirk Soukup and his wife, Karen, of Milddletown (Iowa) and Brade Soukup and his wife, Wendy, of Muscatine (Iowa) and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Charles Cauthorn of Texarkana, Arkansas and one sister, Dorothy Harpin and her husband, Maurice, of Millville, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three brothers,
Paul, Oris, and Doris and one sister, Ruth Cauthorn.
