Guy Swails, 81, Wapello, died Friday morning at Mercy Hospital, where he had been a patient one week.

The son of Frank and Mary Orr Swails, he was born Oct. 16, 1880 at Conesville, Iowa. He married Julia Ryan in St. Mary’s Church at Nichols, Iowa. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Mrs. Geraldine Gerth, Wapello; Donald Swails, Wapello; Mrs. Dorothy Grant, Delmar; Paul Swails, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Alice Schaer, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Pauline Blair, Morning Sun; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers Vern Swailes 1316 Griswold, Burlington; Arthur Swails, Conesville; one sister, Mrs. Grace Crist, Conesville.

The body is at the Dugeon McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.

Services for Guy Swails, Wapello, who died Friday at Mercy hospital at Burlington will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Dudgeon-McCulley funeral home at Wapello. Burial will be at Wapello Cemetery.
