J. W. Hammond, Louisa Resident Called in Death

Columbus Junction – J. W. Hammond, 48, died at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at his home eight miles southwest of Columbus Junction. He had been in failing health the last two years.
James Wesley Hammond was born at Hutchison, Kans., June 12, 1890, and came when a baby with his parents, Fenton and Clara Carpenter Hammond, to Columbus Junction. His home has since been in this community.
On Sept. 29, 1913, he married miss Matie Gentzler, who survives him. Surviving also are two sons, Robert and Donald, at home, and two brothers, Albert Hammond of Columbus Junction; Calvin Hammond, of Stuart, and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bliven and Mrs. Violet Jones, of Columbus Junction.

Short funeral services will be held at 1:15 Thursday afternoon at the Richie Funeral Home in Columbus Junction, and at two o’clock at the Cotter Presbyterian church,
where he was a member. The Rev. M. a. Robeson will be in charge of the services. Burial will be in the Columbus City cemetery.
