Rockwell City – Edward G. Wheeler 66, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at his home, following a lengthy illness. Visitation and viewing will be 4 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Burial will be at a later date at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City.

Ed is survived by his wife Linda; sons, Roger Wheeler of Fort Dodge, and Dale (Steph) Wheeler of Rockwell City; 7 grandchildren, Kee, Pierce, Jeremiah, Bowe, Marissa, Mason, and McKailey; his mother Bonnie Wheeler of Columbus Junction; brothers, David Wheeler of Casper, WY, and Murry Wheeler of Columbus Junction; and sisters, Lorris Mathias of Muscatine, and Shayla Swails of Columbus Junction. He was preceded in death by his father John Wheeler; and sister Shelby Wheeler.

Edward Grant Wheeler was born October 3, 1948 at Muscatine, Iowa. Ed attended Columbus Junction High School, and later received his GED and a degree from Iowa Central Community College. He served in the United States Navy in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1968. On July 22, 1968 he was united in marriage to Linda Howell in Conesville, Iowa. The couple established their home in Columbus Junction, and later moved to Muscatine. In 1979, they made their home in Rockwell City, where Ed worked for the Calhoun County Rural Electric Cooperative for 28 years, retiring in 2002. Ed enjoyed woodworking and was a member of AmVets.
