SCHROCK, Robert

Robert Joseph Schrock, 85, of Mediapolis, died Tuesday evening, April 8, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. The son of Noah and Hattie Lanz Schrock, he was born on April 27, 1922 at Oakville, Iowa. He married Edith Hodel on August 25, 1946 at Roanoke, Illinois.

Bob graduated from Huron High School. He farmed and then was a partner with his brother, Ed, in Schrock Lumber at Mediapolis, retiring in 1984. He continued to help farm with his son for many years.

He was a member of the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. Bob enjoyed visiting with people.

Survivors include his wife, Edith , of Mediapolis; three daughters, Debra and Larry Fountain of Des Moines, Ann and Greg Johnson of Wapello, and Jill and Jeff Lucas of Ft. Madison; three sons, William “Bill” and Karen Schrock of Mediapolis, Joseph Schrock of Kalona, Iowa, and Daniel and Ruthann Schrock of North Liberty; twenty-two grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward and Sally Schrock of Mediapolis and James Schrock of Aurora, Colorado; six sisters Ada and Edwin Banwart of Mediapolis, Louis and Joe Wiegand of West Burlington, Doroth Schrock of San Francisco, California, Alma and Lowell Langland of Ottumwa, Eleanor and Bill Knobloch of Tremont, Illinois, and Janet and Lewis Beik of Burlington; a sister-in-law, Ruth Schrock of Mediapolis; a special daughter and her family, Vickie Schrock of Center Point; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, one sister, Anna; and one brother, John.

The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church, officiated by the ministers of the church. Burial followed in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Oakville.

Visitation was Friday at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis, where the family met with friends in the evening.

A memorial fund was established for the benefit of the Apostolic Christian Church Building Fund.
