Richard M BUFFINGTON, a farmer of the Spring Run neighborhood died at his home Tuesday, March 27, after an extended illness.

Mr. BUFFINGTON was the son of S. A. and Elizabeth (BASHFORD) BUFFINGTON, and was born November 24, 1881, on the farm on which he lived most of his life.

He was married to Verdie JENNINGS on January 13, 1904.

He was a member of the Spring Run Evangelical United Brethren Church.

He is survived by his wife and six children, Birch BUFFINGTON, Mt. Pleasant; Reid, Dean, and Craig BUFFINGTON, all of Columbus Junction; and Mrs. Willard DAVIS, of Olds. Also a nephew Danny ASHLAND, who was reared by the BUFFINGTONS. Danny is a member of the U.S. Air Force and is stationed at Lackland Field, Texas. Three brothers and two sisters, Birch BUFFINGTON, Burlington; Walter BUFFINGTON; Marshalltown; Chester BUFFINGTON, Mason City; Mrs.William HAVENHILL, Morning Sun; and Mrs. Laura ASHLAND, Mason City; and 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren also survive.

One son, Keith BUFFINGTON was killed in World War 2. A brother, Ike BUFFINGTON, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Edna LATHAM, and Mrs. Nora Van Horn also preceded him in death.

A short service will be held at the Barton Funeral Home in Winfield at 1:00 o'clock Friday afternoon followed by a service at the Spring Run Church at 1:30.
